EVERETT, Wash., April 14 (UPI) -- Authorities in Washington state said the odor was "slight" but traffic headaches were sizable when a semi trailer overturned and spilled human waste.

The Washington Department of Transportation said a truck hauling a load of treated human waste from a plant in Everett crashed while trying to take an exit from Interstate 5 to U.S. Highway 2 about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and one of its trailers overturned.

The overturned trailer covered the road in human waste.

"Mercifully I'm not at the rollover scene on I5 at Hwy 2; however, they tell me the odor is only 'slight,'" Washington State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Francis tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

The ramp was closed through early afternoon for cleanup operations.

Authorities said one minor injury was reported from the crash.
