Guinness World Records officials said the feat bested a 2012 record by 50 mattresses.
"Mass participation records like these are pretty complicated," Kristen Ott, public relations manager for Guinness World Records North America, told ABC News.

Hayes said all of the mattresses used to break the record were donated to charity.
