HERVEY BAY, Australia, April 7 (UPI) -- A couple filming a bronze whaler shark swimming next to their jet ski captured the moment the shark turned and rammed the side of their watercraft.

Libby Williams posted a video to Facebook showing the bronze whaler shark keeping pace with the jet ski Williams was riding with a man near Fraser Island off the coast of Hervey Bay, Queensland.

The shark swims next to the jet ski for a few seconds before abruptly turning and lunging toward the watercraft, hitting the side with its head.

Williams said the shark nearly took a chunk of her leg.

"So this just happened. I literally had to move my leg so it didn't get mauled!!" she wrote in the Facebook post.

Williams estimated the shark was about 6 feet long.
