LYNEHAM, Australia, April 6 (UPI) -- A baby wallaby abandoned by her mother took her first uncertain steps at a rescue facility and ended up slipping like Bambi on the smooth floor.

ACT Wildlife Australia, based in Lyneham, Australia Capital Territory, posted a video to YouTube showing a baby wallaby named Illawarra teaching herself to walk.

The small marsupial's first solo stroll around the slippery inside floor leads to a Bambi-like wipe-out.

"Illawarra the wallaby learns to walk!!" the video's description reads. "Although she could have taken her first steps on the carpet she chose the slippery floor. Illy came into care weighing about 600 gm after her mother put her out of her pouch during a stressful incident. The little wallaby is thriving."
