PHILADELPHIA, April 4 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Flyers fans attending Saturday's game briefly became flyers themselves when an escalator malfunction sent riders flying into a massive pile-up.

Witness Meghan McGreevy posted a video to Facebook showing fans crashing into one another at the bottom of the malfunctioning escalator Saturday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

"Escalator got a little excited about the flyers win too...‪#‎flyers‬ ‪#‎philadelphia" McGreevy wrote, referencing the team's 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

There were no official reports of serious injuries, but some witnesses reported seeing some older fans being carted away from the scene in wheelchairs.

A spokesman for the venue's operator, Comcast Spectator, said the escalator was shut down and an investigation was launched. He said the escalator was expected to be back in service in time for Sunday night's Rihanna concert.
