DENVER, March 31 (UPI) -- Denver residents said they have been left guessing by a months-long apparent art project installing doll-like 3D baby faces in random public locations.

The baby faces first caught the attention of social media users in Denver last fall and the doll-head-like objects have since been spotted mounted to outside walls, curbs, dumpsters, sign posts and other surfaces.

Most of the faces spotted around Denver are colored pink or purple, but faces featuring other colors or designs have also been photographed.

Pam Schwasinger, owner of the Strictly Nails Salon, said she is not a fan of the pink faces installed below her sign.

"I don't know. I think they're... they're a little disturbing," Schwasinger told KDVR-TV.

However, some business owners said they appreciated the unauthorized art.

"We thought it was cool so we left it up," said Joseph Ramirez, owner of Mutiny Information Cafe.

There is one thing both business owners agree on -- they have no idea who is behind the installations.

"Somebody who likes baby dolls?" Schwasinger said. "I do not know."
