"With Easter just around the corner I thought it would be a great time to dust off my EV3 and build an egg decorating robot," Alleman wrote on his website.
His model uses the motorized Lego set to rotate the egg, allowing the machine to draw up to seven different patterns using sharpie.
Alleman shared his patterns and detailed instructions on how to properly operate the machine on his website.
"Operating the EV Egg Bot is pretty straight forward," he wrote. "Once the program is running, you can use the left and right buttons on the EV3 unit to scroll through the available patterns and select the center button to 'print' it."
Creative minds have attempted automated egg coloring machines in the past, including "The Original EggBot" created by Bruce Shapiro in 1990.
Shapiro's model also used Sharpies, but has used more sophisticated components such as aluminum chassis throughout its various iterations.
