BERKELEY, Calif., March 25 (UPI) -- Police in California said a suspected drunken driver described as "gold" by a witness was found to indeed be covered from head to toe in gold spray paint.

California Highway Patrol troopers stationed in Oakland said an off-duty police officer reported seeing a suspected intoxicated driver strike three vehicles and lose a wheel from his car in Berkeley.

"While en route, we received a description of the suspect as being 'gold,'" the highway patrol said in a Facebook post. "Well, the description was certainly correct as the suspect was covered head to toe in gold spray paint!"

Damaj Cook, 21, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police shared images showing the gold suspect sitting on a sheet to protect the police department's chairs. They also shared an image showing Cook's steering wheel was covered in gold paint from his hands.

Investigators said Cook was coming from a photo shoot when he struck the three vehicles.

"It's never a dull day for Oakland CHP!" the Facebook post said.
