Alabama police find two pounds of marijuana disguised as anniversary gift

HEFLIN, Ala., March 22 (UPI) -- Police in Alabama discovered a man transporting two pounds of marijuana in a what he claimed to be "an anniversary gift."

Heflin police shared a photo of the box to Facebook after a K-9 officer found evidence of marijuana in the suspect's vehicle.

"Just a few hours ago, Heflin PD's K-9 Officer Turner stopped a vehicle for multiple violations. The car smelled of burned marijuana," they wrote. "A Probable Cause Search was conducted, and Officers located marijuana residue all throughout the vehicle."

The officers then spotted the box, sealed with a bow, which the driver claimed was an anniversary gift for his mother.

Officers discovered two pounds of hydro marijuana inside a vacuum sealed bag and the driver was charged with first degree possession of marijuana, police said.
