Fashion-forward newborn tortoise goes egg shell chic

BERLIN, March 21 (UPI) -- A baby tortoise impatient to explore the world was filmed walking around with half of its egg still attached to its shell.

The video, posted to YouTube by the Germany-based Turtles World website, shows a baby African spurred tortoise, also known as a sulcata tortoise, taking its first steps with its shell still covered by the shell of its egg.

The tortoise teaches itself to walk with a tour of its surroundings, apparently unperturbed by -- or possibly unaware of -- its egg shell situation.

The species is native to the border of the Sahara desert and can grow to sizes of more than 200 pounds.
