PITTSBURGH, March 18 (UPI) -- A UPI photographer and a fan in the stands managed to capture an unusual moment during Thursday's Pittsburgh Penguins game – a woman taking a bloody selfie after being hit in the face by a puck.
The fan's photo, posted to Instagram by user @big_bill66, shows a woman taking a selfie with both hands while someone holds a wad of towels on her injured forehead at Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
"Girl takes puck to the face. She yells 'Did I really just get hit with a puck?' Second 'WAIT! I NEED A SELFIE!'" the uploader wrote. The user's hashtags indicated there was "blood everywhere" following the puck hit.
Archie Carpenter, shooting the game for UPI, also got a picture of the selfie scene from across the ice.
The woman wasn't the only one at the game to take a bruising -- the Penguins beat the Hurricanes 4-2.
