ADELAIDE, Australia, March 17 (UPI) -- An Australian man driving down a long stretch of open road had a near-miss with an emu that ran up an embankment and into the road just as he was going by.

Matt Doyle posted a video to the Dash Cam Owners Australia group on Facebook showing a clip of his dashboard camera footage from a recent long-distance drive from Brisbane to Adelaide.

The clip shows an emu run up an embankment and into the road, narrowly avoiding a collision with the car.

The rear-view camera recorded the emu falling from the apparent course-correction it took to avoid disaster before running away.

"Not sure who got more of a fright; the emu, myself or my partner?" Doyle wrote of the encounter.
