LAHAINA, Hawaii, March 10 (UPI) -- A paddle-boarder in Hawaii captured video of his encounter with a humpback whale calf that appeared to be out on a "people watching" trip.

Ryan Kirkham, who posted his video to Twitter, said he was paddle boarding last month in the channel between Maui and Molokai when he caught the calf's attention.

The video shows the humpback come in for a close look at the human.

"As I was sitting on by board doing some whale watching, this curious little humpback whale decided to come do some 'people watching,'" Kirkham wrote online.
