SAN FRANCISCO, March 8 (UPI) -- A news reporter in San Francisco survived a close call after nearly being struck by an out of control car while reporting a story at a local intersection.

Video shared to Facebook shows KTVU reporter Alex Savidge was live on-air when a white Toyota Corolla veers onto the sidewalk after colliding with a grey vehicle, nearly striking Savidge and photographer Chip Vaughn.

"They were at the scene of the train derailment in Niles Canyon this morning: a car accident almost ended it all for both of them," fellow KTVU reporter Gasia Mikaelian wrote on Facebook. "You'll see -- Alex jumped to the right -- and saved his life...had he jumped the other way, there would have been tragedy."

Savidge shared live video to Facebook after the crash to confirm that he and everyone else involved were OK.

"Close Call!! Almost got hit by a car live on-air, heart still pounding," he wrote.

He credited Vaughn, the photographer, for alerting him of the car's presence just in time for him to get out of the way.

Savidge also appeared on the KTVU broadcast from the scene where he once again thanked Vaughn, while recounting his story and attempting to let his family know he was OK.
