OTTAWA, March 8 (UPI) -- A Canadian auto mechanic turned his smart car into a vehicle designed to handle the country's snowy winter.

"Todd of Autobahn Tuning in Manotick modified this limited-edition smart car for winter," they wrote.

The vehicle was fitted with skis on the front end and snow tracks on the back, allowing it to easily traverse heavy snowfall.

Anderson told the CBC that the modification took about two months and cost about "$7,000 worth of work."

He added that the vehicle's small size made it an ideal choice for the project.

"I thought it would be fitting to try it on the smart car because of the size of the machine," Anderson said.
