GRASMERE, England, March 4 (UPI) -- When the cars are away, the sheep will play!
A formerly busy English road closed due to storm damage has been taken over by large herds of sheep taking shortcuts to their spring pastures.
A video filmed beside the A591 main Lake District North/South route between Grasmere and Keswick shows dozens of sheep filling up the road, which the filmer said used to carry an average 5,000 vehicles a day in the spring months.
The road was closed in December due to damage from a major storm, opening it up as a trail for farmers taking their Herdwick sheep flocks from Grasmere to spring pastures in the higher fells.
