BRISBANE, Australia, March 1 (UPI) -- An Australian motorist's dashboard camera captured a highway driver's daring maneuver to escape a pursuing police car at high speed.

The video, posted to Facebook by Dash Cam Owners Australia, shows a Holden Commodore with no license plates passing through traffic at a high speed until it is approached from the rear by a silver Ford Falcon, which the filmer identified as an unmarked police car.

The Falcon approaches close behind the Commodore and appears to be preparing to pull the other vehicle over when the Commodore, which appeared to be heading toward an exit, quickly swerves to the other side of a concrete barrier at the last possible moment.

The Commodore clips the barrier and spins out of control for a brief moment and a piece of the vehicle flies off before it rights itself and continues on its way.

The police car was unable to make the same maneuver and was forced to continue along the exit.

The filmer said the video bears an incorrect time stamp and was shot about 2:25 p.m. Monday on the M1 motorway in Brisbane.
