German mayor's Facebook screenshot reveals he was looking at porn

QUICKBORN, Germany, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A German mayor accidentally busted himself for viewing porn by posting a screenshot of his desktop on Facebook and said he was merely researching BDSM.

Quickborn Mayor Thomas Koppl took to his town's official Facebook page to post a screenshot of the German constitution as part of a debate about the far-right Alternative for Germany political party.

Facebook users soon pointed out the mayor hadn't cropped the screenshot, so it was plainly visible that he had other tabs open for pages titled "Punishment Porn Videos," "BDSM porno videos" and "German slut punished."

The screenshot, which the mayor later deleted, was reported by news outlet Bild and a resident shared the article on the town's Facebook page.

Koppl came clean in the comments section.

"Yes, I visited the sites concerned," Koppl wrote.

The mayor said his curiosity was piqued by a group of young men discussing BDSM on a ski lift in South Tyrol.

"I wasn't so up-to-date about that, which annoys me. They were mentioning the site 'Xhamster,' (easy to remember) and when I got to my room I wanted to get clued-up."

The mayor said he also read up on the Wikipedia article for the erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Gray."

The mayor said he is "now informed" about BDSM, but he did not find it to his liking.

"I'm sure people who like it can have a lot of fun with BDSM. I find it rather disturbing," he wrote. "I have a problem with violence in general."

Many residents responded positively to the mayor's explanation, with some joking he should rename the town "Quickporn."
