FALLS CHURCH, Va., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A Virginia motorist's dashboard camera captured footage of a luminescent fireball streaking across the dark evening sky.
Alexander Salvador was driving about 6:17 p.m. Saturday in Falls Church when his dashcam captured the fireball -- an especially bright meteor -- that sparked reports from as far away as Michigan and Ontario.
"This looks like something burning up, falling down around the D.C.," Salvador wrote in posting a screenshot of the fireball to Twitter.
The American Meteor Society logged 677 reports of a bright fireball Saturday evening.
