The resident who reported the stuck elk said the animal flipped over while jumping a guardrail and became stuck in the deep snow when it landed on its back.
The video shows the troopers use rope to help the six-point elk turn over onto its feet.
The elk initially appeared to have trouble standing due to fatigue, but was able to leave the area on its town power after a few minutes, the state police said.
The state police said the time stamp on the video indicates it was recorded in 2014, but the footage was actually captured Dec. 27, 2015.
