LEEDS, England, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A package of ham purporting to contain "110 percent British pork" was revealed by supermarket Aldi to be a printing error.
The ham package went viral after a West Yorkshire, England, shopper noticed the ingredients list promised "110 percent British pork" and shared pictures of the package online.
The mathematically baffling claim caused much confusion and amusement on social media.
An Aldi representative explained to the Metro newspaper that the package was supposed to promise "110 grams" rather than the percentage. The representative explained it takes 110 grams of pork to create 100 grams of the finished ham due to moisture loss during processing.
"This was a simple typing error and we have informed the branded supplier, who are working to correct it," the representative said.
