NEW SOUTH WALES , Australia, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A group of Australian fisherman had a close call while attempting to reel in a marlin off the coast of Port Stephens.
Video posted to Facebook shows the three anglers struggling to reel in the large fish as the marlin jumps aboard the boat. One of the fisherman was nearly impaled by the marlin as it flopped about in an attempt to escape back into the ocean.
"Pretty much as close as it gets," Conor Cogan wrote of the encounter on Facebook.
No injuries were sustained, as the men appear in good spirits immediately following the incident.
Had a great day off Port Stephens yesterday on board " The Pump". Went 6-6-4 for the day and also had one come into the boat. Pretty much as close as it gets.
