EDINBURGH, Scotland, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Author J.K. Rowling commented on comparisons between Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and a villain from her popular Harry Potter book series.

Rowling spoke out against Trump on Twitter after several social media users compared him to Harry Potter villain Voldemort following the candidate's comments on barring Muslims from the United States.

"How horrible. Voldemort was nowhere near as bad," she wrote of the comparison between the fictional dark lord and the New York real estate mogul.

Her tweet was accompanied by a link to a BBC Newsbeat article that cited several tweets comparing Trump's "cartoonishly evil" behavior to that of Rowling's character.
