The driver of the box truck, a 42-year-old man, subsequently crashed into a nearby guardrail and was rushed to the hospital with what police describe as serious injuries.
Police told CBS News Boston that the man's injuries are not fatal and that he remains in "good spirits".
The pickup truck driver also suffered minor injuries, but the 33-year-old refused to be admitted to the hospital.
The crash caused the local Sagamore bridge to shut down for over two hours during the morning rush as police attempted to clear the area of the wreckage and debris which included thousands of cranberries. The debris has been cleared and the bridge has since reopened but local police are still searching for the driver who caused the cranberry truck to swerve, setting of this chain reaction.
ALL lanes now closed again on Sagamore to facilitate cleanup. The previously opened lane is closed. Cleanup of wreckage, cranberries ongoing
