CONCORD, Calif., Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A California homeowner who spotted a man taking a package from his porch swiped a purse out of the alleged thief's car and it was all caught on camera.

Ken Jensen of Concord said his daughter alerted him Friday to a man who had pulled his car up to the family's driveway and was running toward their door, where a delivered package was on the porch.

Jensen ran after the man and was able to pull a purse out of the passenger side of the car as the attempted thief fled -- leaving the package behind on the sidewalk.

"Apparently, I was a little bit faster," Jensen told KRON-TV.

The incident was recorded from four different angles by Jensen's security cameras.

Jensen said he turned the purse over to investigators.

Concord police Cpl. Christopher Blakely said he does not recommend other residents follow Jensen's example.

"That is very dangerous," he said. "For safety reasons, I always recommend calling the police."

Concord police said a recent spike in package thefts in the area may be related to the release of Apple's latest iPhone.
