MIAMI, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- A man accused of smelling a woman's feet at Florida International University's library was arrested after crashing his scooter during a chase, police said.

Investigators said an alert was issued Monday seeking the public's help with identifying a man caught on camera crawling underneath a table to smell a woman's feet. Police said the man had allegedly been performing similar actions with other women at other tables on multiple occasions.

Eddy Juan, 52, a man matching the suspect's description, was spotted riding a scooter Tuesday and police attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to pull over.

Juan crashed his scooter and was taken into custody.

The suspect was charged with violation of sexual offender registration, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, aggravated assault and resisting without violence.

FIU students said they were shocked by Juan's alleged actions.

"I'd be so freaked out. I don't know what I would do," student Natalie Quintana told WSVN-TV, "Probably kick him."
