Overturned truck covers interstate in heads of cabbage

By Ben Hooper

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- A truck hauling a load of cabbage overturned Monday morning on a stretch of Interstate 490 in Rochester, N.Y., covering the road in heads of the vegetable.

The truck overturned Monday morning in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 490 between Clinton Avenue and Alexander Street, causing lanes of traffic to be closed on both sides of the road due to the resulting mess of cabbage and clean-up efforts.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and the condition of the truck driver was not yet clear Monday. The cause of the incident was unknown.

Pictures posted to Twitter by Tina MacIntyre-Yee show the roadway covered in heads of cabbage and clean-up crew members -- at least one of whom was armed with a shovel -- trying to clear the mess from the affected lanes.

"My first day back from vacation and look what I encountered. At first I thought a car burned and this was foam, then as I got closer I thought water balloons? And then...I started to laugh. Fortunately, only minor injuries and a lot of heads rolling," MacIntyre-Yee wrote in a Facebook post.
