LONDON, July 24 (UPI) -- A viral video purporting to show a pair of magicians videobombing a live Sky News report with an illusion has been revealed as a hoax by the network.

The video, posted to YouTube by Young & Strange, purports to show magicians Richard Young and Sam Strange performing a shrinking man illusion in the background of a Sky News live report being delivered by reporter Ashish Joshi.

However, Sky News revealed in a tweet Friday that the video was made to look like a news report for its network, but it was not an actual broadcast.

"We'd like to clarify that the Ashish Joshi video with the magicians in the background is not a Sky News report," the tweet said.

Joshi, an actual Sky reporter, agreed to appear in the video for Young & Strange and graphics were added to the video to make it appear to be a real Sky News broadcast.

"They're friends of mine. I was happy to help," Joshi told The Guardian.

He said bosses were not angry at him for the hoax video.

"Sky has been brilliant. Everyone's laughing," he said.

The video, which managed to fool news outlets including Huffington Post UK, was part of an effort to secure a TV deal for Young & Strange.

The magic team shared a second video showing how the hoax was perpetrated.
