PORTLAND, Ore., July 23 (UPI) -- An Oregon man whose roommate "drunkenly" stranded his aerial drone on a rooftop used a camera-mounted drone with coat hanger hooks to rescue the smaller device.

Harrisen Howes, who posted video of the rescue to YouTube, said his roommate took his small Syma x5c drone out for a spin and "drunkenly" lost it on a neighbor's roof, where it spent two months.

Howes said a lack of rooftop access made the drone's rescue impossible until he upgraded to a larger drone, which he outfitted with a video camera and a pair of hooks made from coat hangers and green tape for the attempt.

The video shows Howes successfully snare the stranded drone with one of the hooks and deliver it into his own hands.

Howes said in a comment the smaller drone "worked like a charm" after a battery change.

"I had a gut feeling that it should be fine and it was," he said in a Reddit post.
