Dallas Zoo's baby penguin Marina takes her first swim

DALLAS, July 16 (UPI) -- The Dallas Zoo shared video of a 3-month-old penguin chick taking her first swim under the watchful eyes of zookeepers and her proud parents.

The zoo, which shared the video on YouTube, said Marina, an African black-footed penguin chick weighing in at 5 pounds, took her first "plunge into the penguin pool" Tuesday after shedding the last of her downy gray feathers.

The post said Marina "is a natural" and took to the water like an expert.

"Marina's parents, Tulip and Tazo, also joined in for a dip. You know what they say... the family who swims together, stays together," the zoo said.
