OTTAWA, May 21 (UPI) -- Ontario Provincial Police warned motorists not to emulate the behavior of a woman seen stopped on a busy highway to rescue ducks on the concrete median.
A motorist on Highway 417 in Ottawa about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday captured dashboard camera footage of a woman with a red sport-utility vehicle stopped on the median shoulder of the westbound lanes of the highway while collecting ducks from the concrete median barrier and placing them in a green plastic bin.
Warning: Video contains explicit language:
Police were called to the scene, but the woman and the ducklings were gone by the time officers arrived.
"Any driving behavior that puts other motorists in danger is a problem," police said in a statement. "It is the responsibility of Ontario motorists to direct their attention to driving safely."
Police recommended drivers call 911 instead of getting out of their cars if they see animals in danger or posing a hazard to motorists.
