KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 30 (UPI) -- An 82-year-old woman who became Malaysia's oldest kidney donor is doing well after giving her organ to her daughter two years ago.

Simah Empaling, 82, donated her kidney to daughter Ibi Uding, 50, at the age of 79 in early 2013, making her the oldest living organ donor in southeast Asia, doctors said.

The women said they are both doing well and feeling healthy more than two years after the procedure.

"I still plant vegetables in my garden and clean my own house," said Empaling, a grandmother of 25 and great-grandmother of 10.

Professor Datuk Dr. Tan Si Yen, the nephrologist who treated the women, said Empaling's kidney is functioning in her daughter's body as well as he would expect a kidney from a donor half the elderly woman's age to function.

An 85-year-old British woman became the world's oldest living organ donor in 2014 when she donated a kidney to a total stranger.
