The Mower County Sheriff's Office said someone went into an unlocked barn near Leroy sometime between April 1 and April 7 and stole a container filled with frozen bovine seed. The farm owner told investigators he and his employee were both away from the farm from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday. "In this case, it's a $70,000 loss just for the semen itself," May said. He said the canister of semen was the only item targeted by the thief or thieves. "They would have to have knowledge that, yes, this particular item was in this building, and maybe the value of it, too," May said.
