SACO, Maine, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Security camera footage from a Maine gas station robbery attempt captured the moment a heroic dog jumped to the rescue of the clerk.

The Saco Police Department released video showing a masked man draw a gun and shove clerk Justin Ireland, 21, at the Holly's Gas station Feb. 9.

The robber's aggression was picked up by Thor, the clerk's pit bull/boxer mix, who fended off the robber by biting him once on the hand and once on either side of his face.

The suspect fled in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, police said.

Police said they are working to identify the suspect, who may now have bite marks on the sides of his face.

Ireland and Thor were not injured in the incident, police said.
