Hang glider cliff rescue caught on camera

MONA VALE, Australia, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Emergency responders in suburban Sydney rappelled down a cliff to rescue a woman who became stranded when she crashed while hang gliding.

Fire and rescue officials said a specialist crew rappelled down the face of the cliff Wednesday in Mona Vale, north of Sydney, to reach the hang glider, who was stranded about 60 feet above the ground.

The rescuers, whose efforts were caught on camera, were able to lower the woman to the beach below, where paramedics said she was uninjured.

"It was a really good operation. Very slick, took no time at all," fire and rescue officer Scott Bennett said.
