Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe MELBOURNE, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Ride-sharing service Uber held a one-day-only promotion Thursday in Australia allowing customers to order a "kitten car" and have baby cats come to visit. Uber said the UberKittens promotion, designed to raise awareness of adoptable pets, was available Thursday only in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Geelong and the Gold Coast. Advertisement The UberKittens service cost about $31 and involved a "kitten car" allowing customers to play with the felines for about 15 minutes. The company previously tested an UberKittens scheme in New York and a similar service involving puppies was available for one day in 10 U.S. cities to coincide with the Super Bowl. Proceeds from Thursday's promotion will go to animal shelters in each of the participating cities, Uber said.Look who visited @newscomauHQ this morning! "Uber will drive the kittens and Lort Smith staff to the workplace where we'll talk about the joy that pets can bring to our lives and also the responsibilities that come with pet ownership."
