DOLTON, Ill., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Illinois State Police said a pickup truck drove onto the back of an empty car carrier truck Thursday while it was traveling on Interstate 94.

Police said the car carrier stopped about 3:30 a.m. Thursday on the Bishop Ford Freeway in the Chicago suburb of Dolton because the driver felt a jolt and thought he might have blown a tire.

However, an examination of his truck revealed a pickup truck behind the carrier had traveled at a high enough rate of speed to board the car carrier.

The pickup driver, who suffered minor injuries, was taken to Munster Community Hospital.

Police said no citations were issued at the scene, but the investigation is ongoing.
