Tom Kampas said he was filming Dec. 21 at El Porto Beach near the city of Manhattan Beach and he did not realize he had captured footage of a leaping shark until he reviewed the video later at home. Advertisement "All of a sudden that great white came up from out of the water behind the surfer like a Polaris missile," he told ABC News. "It all happened so quick and I don't think that guy was even aware of it." Kampas said experts at the Shark Research Institute viewed the video and confirmed the footage showed a great white shark leaping from the water.
