LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Los Angeles police said a man who led officers on a 90-mph chase in a stolen BMW attempted to flee on a skateboard, but was blocked by a former reality TV star.

Police said the suspect, whose name was not released, stole the BMW sedan shortly before 3:40 p.m. Dec. 1, and he reached speeds on 90 mph while fleeing pursuing officers.

The man abandoned the car after crashing it into the back of another vehicle, and he fled on foot holding a longboard-style skateboard.

The suspect attempted to ride the skateboard for less than a block, but switched back to running after only a few seconds.

Police said a pickup truck attempted to block the fleeing man's path, but the suspect was able to evade it. A few seconds later, the same pickup truck was able to block the man's path and allow police to apprehend him.

The driver of the pickup truck turned out to be Luis "Lou" Pizarro, star of late truTV reality series "Operation Repo."

"I seen the guy running with a skateboard in his hand and he's running from the cops ... and it was just instinct just to block the guy off, slow him down a little bit," Pizarro told KABC-TV. "That's all I could do."
