Police: 111 bikes found in elderly man's apartment

Police said finding the owners of the bikes will "not be easy and will take time."

VADSTENA, Sweden, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden said an elderly man found with 111 bicycles told officers he found them in various locations around the country and rode them home.

Investigators said they discovered 101 bikes in the Vadstena apartment occupied by the man, who is in his 70s, and another 10 bicycles were found in the man's storage room.

Police said they were called to the man's apartment to question him in a separate matter.

Police Chief Frida Braf told mvt.se finding the owners of the bikes will "not be easy and will take time."

"He said he found the bikes at various locations in the country and cycled home with them," Braf said.

The elderly man was questioned Monday and released on bail, police said.
