HERCULES, Calif., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Police in northern California said the contents of a suspicious baggie found in an 8-year-old girl's Halloween candy tested positive for methamphetamine.

Investigators in Hercules, located about 25 miles northeast of San Francisco, said the girl's father discovered the baggie while going through her candy and turned it over to police.

Police spokeswoman Connie Van Putten said the contents of the baggie tested positive for meth. She said police have not received any similar reports, but parents are being urged to look through their children's candy hauls for anything suspicious.

Hercules Police Sgt. Ezra Tafesse said the baggie contained about a tenth of a gram of meth, "enough for felony charges filed for possession of a controlled substance."

Police said they do not yet know if the baggie was given to the girl intentionally. Investigators are working to determine which house gave the drugs to the child.
