Andy Shovel and Peter Sharman, owners of Chosen Bun in London's Fulham area, said they used a helium balloon "the size of a two-bedroom house" to launch the "first burger and chips in space," though the balloon only made it to near-space at an altitude of 112,000 feet. Advertisement "We both really love space and we're physicists as well as burger flippers," Shovel told The Telegraph. The high-flying food's journey was documented using a GoPro 3 camera and the video footage was posted to YouTube. Shovel said previous attempts at the launch failed. "[The camera] stopped working about two feet off the ground," he said of an August attempt. The founders said the launch was not their first marketing stunt. "We've driven a burger from the shop to Istanbul, bolted to the roof," Shovel said. "We've also catapulted a burger from the street outside the shop onto a three-storey building. It's all designed to showcase our patented packaging, which is designed to protect food on the go." Advertisement
