GUANGZHOU, China, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A Chinese KFC customer says she discovered white worms squirming inside a chicken wing she saved as leftovers.
The woman, identified by the surname Liu, told the Apple Daily she ordered wings from a KFC in Guangzhou Saturday afternoon and she decided to save some of her meal for later.
However, Liu said she went to eat the leftover chicken and discovered a number of tiny white worms squirming inside a piece of the chicken.
It was not clear how much time had passed in between the woman ordering the meal and discovering the worms.
Liu said a manager at the KFC offered only a refund and a replacement meal as compensation.
A spokesperson for Yum! Brands, which operates KFC, says chicken is heated to 107 F, and the restaurant's strict cooking standards preclude the woman's claims.
