COLCHESTER, England, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A British woman said she initially thought there was mold on her bananas, but she soon discovered the object was actually a deadly spider's egg sack.

Abby Woodgate, 30, of Colchester, England, said the bananas were delivered to her home by her local Tesco store and she used a toothpick to poke at what appeared to be mold on the fruit, The Mirror reported.

Woodgate said her prodding opened up the cocoon, revealing dozens of tiny eggs. She said Tesco -- the British supermarket chain -- sent pest control experts to her home and they identified the eggs as coming from a Brazilian wandering spider, an extremely aggressive and highly venomous variety of arachnid.

Woodgate said the pest control experts took her trash bin and her vacuum cleaner to be incinerated.

She said experts told her the eggs would have been unlikely to hatch due to Britain's cooler climate.

A Tesco spokesman said the company will replace Woodgate's trash can and vacuum.
