MONTREAL, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Officials at a Montreal jail are refusing to comment on Facebook pictures depicting an inmate with a cigar and a bottle of expensive cognac.

The photos, posted to Facebook by Michael Simoneau-Meunier, a repeat offender awaiting sentencing at the Bordeaux jail on a robbery conviction, depict Simoneau-Meunier holding a $250 bottle of Xo cognac and a cigar that may or may not have contained marijuana.

"Xo and blunt living da jail life," the picture caption reads.

Simoneau-Meunier also posted photos to the social media site of himself and other Bordeaux inmates posing with their shirts off to show off their physiques.

Jail officials declined to comment on the pictures and Quebec's public safety department would say only that a zero tolerance policy is in place for alcohol, drugs, tobacco and cellphones in jails and prisons.

QMI Agency quoted an anonymous source with knowledge of the conditions at Bordeaux that cell phones are being smuggled in by inmates at a faster rate than the guards can seize them.
