"Hi, um, this is actually not a prank call, but there is a chicken trying to cross the road in Linnton," the caller said. Advertisement The dispatcher inquired if the chicken was causing traffic issues. "Yes, it's really trying to go into the middle of the road," the caller replied. "I had to slow down to almost to a complete stop." Officers who responded to the situation could not find the bird. Even though jokes about chickens crossing roadways often get cluckles, "animals in the roadway creating traffic hazards are no laughing matter," the Portland Police Bureau wrote in a posting about the situation. Fortunately, this particular incident did not result in any traffic accidents.
