SENECA, S.C., July 30 (UPI) -- A South Carolina man claims that being hit by lightning is similar to being nuked in a microwave.

Melvin Roberts would know; he's been hit 10 times.

The Seneca resident says that lightning hits like a "freight train" and it will make you lose "control over your body."

If Roberts really has been hit 10 times, he would be the world record holder. The Guinness Book of World Records still has Roy Sullivan at the top of its list with seven zaps.

"It's like grabbing an electrical cord," Roberts told ABC News. "You don't feel the burns until it's over with. It cooks you from the inside out like being in a microwave. And you've got a hurting in your bones."

The repeated strikes have led Roberts to suffer from memory loss, headaches, speech problems and other health problems.

"I get real bad headaches. I see dead people," Roberts told WSPA after being hit for the seventh time back in 2012.
