The medical malpractice suit, which is seeking an unspecified amount of damages, was filed in Jefferson County Circuit Court in Birmingham.
According to the suit, the man went in for circumcision surgery in June and awoke to find that his penis had been amputated, AL.com reported.
The plaintiff's suit names Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Urology Centers of Alabama, the Simon-Williamson Clinic and two doctors as defendants in the case.
"When the plaintiff ... awoke from his aforesaid surgical procedure, his penis was amputated," according to the lawsuit. The man claims he "never gave consent for the complete or partial amputation of (his) penis."
