Former Beatle George Harrison's memorial tree is killed by beetles

LOS ANGELES, July 22 (UPI) -- A group of actual insects pulled a Yoko Ono and ruined a tree that was planted in memory of former Beatle George Harrison.

Gardeners were unable to help a pine tree that was planted in 2004 near Griffith Observatory after actual beetles were unable to let it be.

Simply put, a tree that was dedicated to a Beatle has been killed by beetles.

Harrison fans may want to gently weep for a while, but the tree will be replanted, Los Angeles Councilman Tom LaBonge told the Los Angeles Times.

The tree was planted after Harrison died in the LA area in 2001. He was a gardener -- who sometimes frequented an octopus' garden in the shade -- and a plaque on the tree reads, "For the forest to be green, each tree must be green."

It's still unclear when the tree will be replanted.
