BOSTON, July 14 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts man is facing charges after he allegedly went swimming with the sharks at the New England Aquarium in Boston.
Stephen Pellegrine was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly hopped over a waist-high wall and into a tank containing sharks at the aquarium.
According to staff members, Pellegrine appeared to be intoxicated.
"He jumped into the fish tank, which is 27 feet deep," Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Erica Brody told MyFoxBoston. "There are sharks in there."
The 51-year-old was lucky to escape the dangerous dip without injury.
"Fortunately the sharks had already been fed," Suffolk County District Attorney's Office spokesman Jake Wark told the Patriot Ledger.
In addition to sharks, the tank also holds sea turtles, stingrays, eels and fish.
